There are few things more precious than welcoming a new life into your world. As a mama to two toddlers, I am well-versed in the sleepless nights, the baby-puke-stained clothing worn for the 3rd day in a row, and the never ending piles of dirty diapers and laundry that accompany that tiny little human. But I have also been privy to the life-altering, earth-shaking love that floods every fiber of your being the first time you see them, hold them, breathe them in. I know so well the fierce joy and affection that radiates from your soul to theirs as you nurse them, feel their chest rise and fall against yours, watch them sleep for hours on end, and wonder how you ever had a life before them. There is something mystifying about becoming a parent for the first time. It rearranges everything you know and puts it all back together in the strangest, most exhausting, but most beautiful of ways. And it is a gift to be invited into a client’s home to document some of those first days at home. Because let’s face it, sleep deprivation is real y’all, and it is so important than you don’t miss these little moments because my goodness, do they grow up fast!

The Miller family was one such gift. They opened their home and sweet little family up to me and allowed me to capture tiny little William in all of his newborn wonder. He was an absolute doll, and I just can’t get over the way his mom and dad looked at him. Their eyes lit up with every little smile, coo, or squirm, as though they were watching him for the first time all over again. So much love in their home. So much joy in their hearts.
