Winter Castlewood State Park Engagement | Luke + Lauren

FILED IN: Uncategorized

Luke + Lauren’s winter engagement session at Castlewood State Park was nothing short of an adventure. 40 degree weather (we were so thankful for the sunshine though!), hiking up snowy bluffs, underestimating the mileage between our starting location + where we wound up, and going home totally covered in mud! And did I mention this was all with their two pups in tow? Shout out to Lauren’s best friend, Carly, for all her help! Their session was certainly filled with good stories and will be one we won’t soon forget, and I would expect nothing less from these two!

Whenever we start talking through engagement session locations with a couple, I always recommend that we start somewhere that holds meaning for them, whether that be where they met, their favorite spot, or a location that is indicative of their unique personalities. In Luke + Lauren’s case, it was the place where he proposed! It doesn’t get more meaningful than that! When we arrived, we hiked to the top of a bluff overlooking the river, the place where Luke actually asked Lauren to marry him. It was so sweet knowing that we were standing in the place where their journey toward forever first began.

Beyond being the place where Luke proposed, Castlewood State Park is also one of their favorite locations to bring their dogs for a walk! Luke is a marathon runner and these two can often be found hiking these trails together! In fact, I made them take their FitBits off for the session and they were a little bummed they weren’t going to be getting all of those steps documented!

Luke + Lauren, what an adventure we had together! Can’t wait until your wedding day in April! I’m sure we’ll have many more stories to tell then!
