A few weeks ago, I handed off the album from the first wedding of our 2015 season, and I have to admit, it was a little bittersweet. I always joke with my clients that they better really like us when they book because they’ll be stuck with us for awhile. Chances are, your wedding photographer is the vendor you’ll spend more time with than anyone! From the initial consult to the engagement session, the save-the-date designs, the planning meetings, nearly every moment at the wedding itself, the reveal session after the wedding, and finalizing album and print orders, there are so many touch points! The beauty of this is that you naturally begin to form a friendship and that is such a fun thing! So, when I gave Keri her final album and prints, I was a little sad knowing I wouldn’t be receiving any more emails or going on any more coffee dates with her any time soon!
Eric + Keri are just the sweetest, most genuine couple you’ll ever meet. You may remember their gorgeous Forest Park engagement session from last fall – the epitome of class in every way. And their wedding was the perfect celebration of their personalities, they joy, and ultimately, their infectious love for one another. We started the day in their beautiful St. Louis city home. Keri’s dress was simple, but perfectly suited! And I’m still obsessed with her Sapphire engagement ring!
Eric was classy as ever and of course, donning Superman cufflinks. In their engagement session, Eric sported a hidden Superman shirt and there’s no denying that he bears a striking resemblance to Clark Kent! Before Keri’s dad passed away several years ago, he told her to find her Superman…and Eric is so clearly that. I love the nods to this little, but significant part of their story!
Eric + Keri’s first look in the courtyard at Sqwires was just the sweetest. The way Eric takes Keri in, so enamored, so much joy. And Keri couldn’t stop gushing about how handsome Eric was too!
The color palate for their day was navy, yellow, and gray with every little detail perfectly executed to accentuate that! All of the florals for the day were handcrafted paper flowers, made by The Paper Flowerbed
Thunderstorms threatened all morning, forcing us to move the wedding from the outdoor fountain into a smaller room at SqWires. And although it wasn’t the original plan, Eric + Keri just went with it and remained so joyful the entire time!
Since their wedding was a Sunday brunch, they chose a donut cake over an actual cake! Isn’t is darling?! I’m convinced that all weddings should be brunch weddings now.
After the reception, we stole away to Layfayette Park across the street. And oh my goodness, am I glad we did! It was so nice to have a little bit of time with just the two of them. They were able to step away from the busyness of the day and just be married for a minute.
Eric + Keri, thank you so much for inviting us into your day. It was a beautiful, beautiful celebration, and I’m honored to have been able to document it!
